RECOVERING THE LANDSCAPE (a process of healing the land)

Returning from the memorial, the departure route of the main road begins to unveil the enormity of the park. Two waysides atop the ridge of the Outer Bowl encompasses views of the park below.

The site’s scars become an overwhelming reality, as do their role in the process of natural succession. Drainage swales assist in nourishing hedgerows and island vegetation along the approach. Despite natural succession, a memory trace, or scar of these swales will remain. They convey the lasting memory of 40 people who chose to make a difference.
